Nic Cope studied piano from an early age and has always had a love of music; sacred, secular, ancient and modern. He has been organist and choirmaster at various churches, including St Mark's, London, St Mary's, Langley and St Mary's, Denham. He has sung and conducted numerous choirs over the years, and now regularly sings and plays at his local church of St Nicolas in Newbury. He was Musical Director for the televised live BBC1 broadcast of its 2001 Christmas Day morning service, "God's Surprise".

Nic enjoys accompanying. He played for the Berkshire Young Musicians Trust's Berkshire Girls Choir until 2004. This included playing for many public concerts and accompanying their silver medallist performances in the International Choir Olympics in Bremmen, Germany (July 2004). He also accompanied the Taplow Girls Choir for their performances at an international music festival in Slovenia (April 2006), and later that summer for recitals with the soprano Clare Minting (music by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, Mozart, Verdi and Bellini).

Nic has also been the Musical Director for various local groups, including The Dulcet Singers, The Cromwell Singers, Wantage Stage Music Company, Newbury Young Stars, Kennet Opera and Newbury NOMADS. During this time he has MD'd a variety of Shows including:

Nic also enjoys conducting more orchestral works, including performances of Handel's Messiah and Poulenc's Gloria, and organising other special events, for example, choir trips to Europe, e.g. Verona and Feltre.

After 35 years being a musician with a full time job (working in the IT industry), Nic is now pursuing a career as a freelance musician, including choir training, conducting, accompanying, and giving private tuition in voice and piano.
